Official Amendments to the Official Rules:

COMPETITION PROCESS:

1. The competition will consist of four (4) competition sessions
2. Each competition session comprises of four (4) hour of fishing
3.  This is a team competition. Each team is made up of two (2) competitors.
4. The rotation is set by the Rotation System and the draw.
5. One boat will hold one team only.
6.  The boats will be launched fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the session, to compensate for boat and motor designs and to allow adequate time for positioning.

BOAT FISHING

7.  Fishing will be performed from the boat. No wading allowed.
8. Trailing and trolling of the flies is prohibited.
9.  The competition boats will not be equal in size, design, structure and power(speed limitation will de discussed).
10. Boats may not approach within 50 feet (5 rod lengths) of other boats from which competitors are fishing – except for reasons of safety or necessity when moving to a new location (common sense and courtesy should prevail).
11. The use of anchors and drogues (drift sock) is allowed.
12. A competitor may only cast their flies within the marked boundaries of their sector.
13. While fishing competitors may adopt any position they considered safe or convenient (standing or seated).
14. Netting of fish must be performed solely by the team who caught and wishes to score the fish.
15. Only fish hooked in the mouth area or in front of the rear edge of the gill cover, will be eligible for the scoring of points.
16. The competitor may remove the hook, and must revive the fish and release it, taking care not to damage the fish, as a dead fish is ineligible for scoring of points.
17. The use of hand-signals, written and verbal communication or radios, phones, and other electronic communication devices are permitted during competition sessions.

FLIES:

18. The use of maximum one fly is allowed. No length restrictions.
19. All flies must be dressed on single hooks, double hooks or triple hooks are not allowed.
20. Multiples visible beads may be used on each fly.
21. All flies can be attached to the leader with steel wire (loop knots are permitted)

FLY LINE SETUP:

22. Sinking or floating devices may be added to fly lines (bobbers, barrel-swivels, split-shot or other weights are permitted).
23. Leaders may be knotted or knotless, and tapered or level, and must be continuous for its entire length (tying leader to the bend of the hook is not permitted)
24. Shooting heads are permitted.

GEAR:

25. Competitors may have spare fly rods with them, but use only one at the time.
26. Mandatory competition nets for landing the fish.

SCORING POINTS:

27. Eligible fish species: All (depending on the venue and provincial regulations restrictions)
28. 18 centimeters has been set as the minimum length for the scoring of points.
29. For measuring purposes, the length will be from the tip of the nose to the tip in the tail.

30a.   Competitors are awarded one hundred (100) points for an eligible fish (over 18cm) and will also receive twenty (20) points per centimeter of length of each eligible fish

– i.e.: 20cm fish equals 500 points.

Over 18cm eligible fish = 100 points

20cm x 20points = 400 points

TOTAL = 500 points

30b. A maximum of 5 fish can be scored at the end of each session. The fish has to be recorded on score card and proved by photo in the measuring trough.

31. Fish hooked during a competition session is eligible if it is landed not more than 5 minutes after the session ends.

OBLIGATIONS:

32. It is the responsibility of each competitor to provide and wear their own eye protection and personal floating device (life jacket).
33. Each participant is responsible for checking the accuracy of their scorecard, ensuring that their fellow competitor has crossed out the unused part of the scorecard and confirming this by signing it at the end of each period.
34. Each participant is responsible for their own travel to and from all official events and during the practice and competition sessions.
35. All scorecards and photos must be handed to the sector judge immediately upon the boat arrival to the shore (missing or late cards/photos will be disqualified).
36. Competitors are responsible for supplying, borrowing, or arranging their own boats for unofficial practice.

PROHIBITIONS:

35. Lack of sportsmanship towards competitors, organizers or officials.
36. The use by a team member of a fish/depth finder during a session.
37. Use of any prohibited substance(s) constituting doping, according to the anti-doping regulations set.
38. Competitors are prohibited from leaving the shore until they’ve handed in their scorecards.
39. Use of any live bait or fish attractant is prohibited.

PENALTIES:

40. If a fellow competitor or competition official determines that a competitor has negligently injured a fish, that fish will not be scored, and the competitor will be penalized the number of points attributable to a fish of minimum valid length (a -500 point penalty)
41. At the conclusion of the session, any fish that are hooked while the flies are in the water or as they’re being retrieved back to the boat, are NOT eligible for scoring points
42. Any competitor who is caught not wearing a life jacket at any time during the session will automatically be disqualified.
43. Disciplinary measures are:

– Warning

– Censure

– Disallowing all or part of a competitor’s catch

– Disqualification of a team or individual
